Steps es una banda de Bogotá- Colombia, cuyo sonido trasciende las esferas trasnochadas de lo que algunos llaman "escena hardcore". En Steps no hay lugar para el reduccionismo o la extrapolación del sonido estadounidense en último término, todo lo contrario, la banda crea, transforma, destruye y vuelve a crear algo que a mi modo de ver difícilmente puede ser encasillado en el término "hardcore" -si vamos por lo tradicional-, Steps hace música con personalidad, siendo tan "colombiano" su estilo y carisma, produciendo una sensación que te ordena golpear al punk eskorbutero de tu barrio. Su letras también resaltan, los chicos se cansaron de ideas como: odio al estado, odio a la poli, odio a mis padres, me odio, o la típica: si comes carne eres un asesino, si usas drogas eres un capitalista. Steps pasó secundaria con honores y se fue a jugar en la serie "A" de la música diy de Sudamérica. Los Crudos o Sick of it all ya dieron lo suyo, ahora, es el turno de Steps.

Steps is a band from Bogotá, Colombia. This band’s sound transcends all existing spheres of what some people like to call “the hardcore scene”. In Steps, there’s no place for reductionism, or for extrapolations of a sound born in the United States. On the contrary, the band creates, transforms, destroys and goes back to creating something that - from my perspective - could hardly be classified within the limits of the term “hardcore”. Taking a traditional approach, Steps makes music with personality- “Colombian” in style and charisma- producing an emotion that commands you to beat on the everyday-neighborhood-punk stuck listening to Eskorbuto.

Steps’ lyrics are outstanding:the kids got tired of topics such as: hatred against the government, against the cops, against their parents, against themselves, or the ever popular: if you eat meat you’re a murderer, if you do drugs you’re a capitalist. Steps went through high school as an honor student and passed straight to play in the “A series” of the DIY music in South America. Los Crudos and Sick Of It All have already given their part, now is Steps’ turn.
